At Riverdale Heights,
We believe that meeting new characters in books allows all of us to learn & grow.
We believe that books can take us places we’ve never been before.
We believe that reading changes hearts.
We believe that reading changes minds, and
We believe that reading changes lives.
We are so excited to spend our year helping learners think, grow & love reading and learning!
Hello! My name is Katie Rokusek and I couldn't possibly be more excited to be a part of the Riverdale Heights family! This is my first year as a Teacher Librarian, but I have almost 15 years of teaching experience, primarily in 5th grade. I am excited to meet each of the students at Riverdale Heights and begin an exciting year of learning and laughing!
I was born and raised right here in Bettendorf and attended Pleasant Valley schools from kindergarten through 12th grade. Go Spartans! After graduation, I went on to receive my bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and my Masters in Educational Leadership from St. Ambrose University. I am married to my husband, Kevin. I have a step-daughter named Kaitlyn who is in college and daughter Kamdyn who is a student here at Riverdale Heights. When I'm not at school I really enjoy reading, traveling, scrapbooking, and spending time with my family. |
Hi! I’m Michelle Lastine and this is my second year as Library Assistant at Riverdale Heights. I have the best job because I get to “talk books” with so many amazing students everyday! This year I’m excited to work beside Mrs. Rokusek and help implement some of her incredible ideas!
I am originally from LeClaire and also a Pleasant Valley graduate. I received my bachelors degree in History at the University of Northern Iowa, which I’m pretty sure is where I developed my love of libraries and research! I am married to an awesome guy named Darin and we have two sons: Caden is a freshman in high school this year and Owen is in 6th grade here at Riverdale Heights. We love to go hiking and have family game nights! I also have two cats that I talk about way too much: Jasper and Pickles (named after a children’s book called Pickles the Fire Cat). Stop by the library and I’ll tell you all about them! |
